Architect: Geoff Cole
Project Completed: August 2020
Contractor: Burfitt & Garrett Ltd
Kitchen by Guild Anderson Furniture Makers.
The project is for the refurbishment and conversion of three buildings. The Client’s brief was to ensure the futureproofing of the buildings, both in terms of structural integrity, as well as energy efficiency.
The Barn was first converted to an Annex. The walls were partly rebuilt, underpinned, and highly insulated along with the roof.
The refurbishment and extension to the main house incorporates the fitment of MVHR to improve air quality to what will be a more airtight building, and will reduce the heating load requirements of the dwelling.
An energy consultant was appointed early in the project to ensure that suitable renewable energy sources and upgrades to fabric elements were incorporated at the design stage and to ensure the integration to the design.
The former Cowshed building, now part of the house, has been re-roofed in slate and includes a 4kW Photo Voltaic array to the Southern roof slope.
