This project involved the complete renovation, refurbishment and extension of a Grade II Listed home which was formerly a pair of traditional workers cottages.
Through a combination of sensitive design and traditional construction methods, the cottage has been restored to a high standard while maintaining the austere, simple character of the original properties.
What was a damp and unsympathetically extended cottage has been enhanced through the use of reclaimed Greenstone, brick and tiles, and modern Limecrete floors with lime plaster to walls allowing the property to breathe.
The project also included the construction of a large 3 bay garage with part subterranean workshop and guest/office accommodation at first floor with traditional external stone step access.
Landscaping design was also key on a challenging sloping site with a series of terraces enveloping the buildings; allowing the buildings to emerge from the landscape and sit comfortably in this sensitive location.
