Architect: Philip Proctor
Project Completed: September 2013
Contractor: A Hammond & Sons Ltd
The brief was to replace a chalet bungalow on the site with a family house with an interesting and varied roofline. The site is interesting with extensive views to the north and a busy road to the south. The land falls away to the north giving the opportunity for an under-house garage and playroom.
A large hall has been designed to lead to a family room/kitchen with two walls of windows overlooking the Blackmore Vale. Part are sliding windows and part are retractable to open, depending on the weather, onto a large decked terrace.
The building is of local Greensand stone, with a plain tile roof. The clients selected oak finish uPVC windows to match internal doors, linings, architraves and skirting all in oak. The effect is of a contemporary arts and crafts house.
