Architect: Phillip Proctor

This building was originally constructed as a farmhouse in the 17th century but in latter years has been a public house. The architect’s proposal was to rearrange the uses to move the commercial space to the north wing facing the street and evening sun, allowing the residential use to revert to the original house. Lost stone mullioned windows were replaced on the ground floor. Replacement lead lights and casements were installed. A new Jacobean staircase in oak was designed incorporating LED lights in the string. The former toilets and beer cellar were converted to give a high-ceilinged living kitchen area.

All walls have been insulated, floors insulated and underfloor heating installed including to upper floors, so that, in conjunction with the wood pellet boiler, the house can be enjoyed in 21st century comfort and set up for another 100 years.
