The prep school have been using 30 year old temporary classrooms to provide a centralised school hall and three classrooms with a girls changing room and toilet facilities. This building has been suffering signs of age and required improvement to revitalise and modernise the facilities, as well as accommodate the boys newly welcomed into the school.
The design was to create a building of more permanence, better matched to the environmental credentials the school upholds, and within a budget and exceedingly tight timescale. The entire works are to be designed, managed and completed within one summer vacation.
Planning consent was obtained just prior to commencement on site, which while being respectful to the sensitive nature of the surrounding listed structures created both a striking and welcoming functional front entrance to the prep school. The design was to include a new main entrance for all students and parents and enrich the environment of the pupils.
